In the second quarter of 2022, the EU seasonally adjusted current account of the balance of payments recorded a deficit of €37.4 billion (–1.0% of GDP), down from a surplus of €8.8 billion (0.2% of GDP) in the first quarter of 2022 and down from a surplus of €104.8 billion (2.9% of GDP) in the second quarter of 2021
