German Recession: German auto manufacturing employment hits 14-year low

Employment across Germany’s automotive sector fell to 721,400 workers at the end of September, the lowest level recorded since mid-2011 when the industry employed 718,000 people. The federal statistics office reported the sector shed 48,700 positions over the 12 months to September, representing a 6.3% decline and marking the steepest drop among major industrial sectors employing over 200,000 staff.
