Russian attacks against Ukraine on Aug. 7 targeted critical energy sites operated by state oil and gas company Naftogaz, shutting down production at several facilities, the firm reported.
The targeted sites were owned by the oil and gas extraction company Ukrnafta, a subsidiary of Naftogaz. Seven Ukrnafta facilities in eastern Ukraine were hit overnight.
“Russia is systematically attacking Ukrainian oil and gas production in order to cause maximum damage to our infrastructure on the eve of winter,” Serhii Fedorenko, acting Naftogaz Board Chairman, said following the strikes.
