In response Western nations are cracking down on these media, either by banning them, suppressing them, or as in the case of social media, buying them. This policy will become more brutal in the years to come as Western hegemony inexorably crumbles before our eyes.
In these times we need Resistance Media more than ever, unwavering in publishing articles or videos by those who resist Western imperialism wherever it rears its ugly head: challenging the Zionist genocide in Gaza; the NATO proxy war in Ukraine; neo-liberalism; the drive to militarism in Europe; EU corruption and centralisation; that won’t blink in the face of the recrudescence of fascism and the decline of democracy and the rule of law.

In May, a journalist from Gaza, Shaimaa Eid, contacted us looking for a platform for her work. We decided, despite lacking the financial resources, that we would find a way to make it happen. Over the past six months, Shaimaa has written for us about the brutal reality of life in Gaza. She has documented a heartbreaking journey, from being forced out of her home in Gaza City, to leaving the Al-Mawasi refugee camp to return home when the ceasefire was announced, only to find her house reduced to rubble, returning to the refugee camp once more. When we look around at the media environment in Europe today, it fills us with anger that we are one of just a small handful of media outlets that are willing to stand up for journalists in Gaza, who are risking their lives every day to stop the truth from being extinguished entirely.
The greatest threat to Resistance Media are not attacks on our websites, censorship, or hindrances like shadow banning on X. It is the lack of support from readers. Less than one percent of our readers donate. That is what has destroyed so many alternative media in the past.
