Simon Wren-Lewis: Decreasing the size of the state is very unpopular

Why? Why have we been told for decades that people are fed up with state intervention and state run companies? It is not only the bubble politicians live in. Wren-Lewis fails to mention the integral role that media played, bombarding citizens with reports concerning the “incompetence” of the state. Many of the “mistakes” the state committed have been the result of corruption coming from the private sector, resulting in wrong policy decisions. We are now experiencing the culmination of this process of state capture through politician buyout.
