Instead of pumping billions into private airlines, nations that need one should nationalise one flag carrier for 1 cent while letting the discount airlines go bankrupt, and start charging a fair price that also include the environmental costs, so that the price for a flight from London to Madrid is for example 500 euros. This would be great for the environment and creating airlines that pay and treat their staff and customers well.
