The “Third Way” social democrats in Europe and “liberal democrats” in the US are politically bankrupt. Their only assets are the donations from financial institutions and international corporations, but as we saw with Hilary Clinton, you cannot necessarily buy an election. Bill Mitchell examines the newest ploys of the “centre-left” (actually dyed in the wool neo-liberal) parties to convince people that their message is still valid: “We may not represent your interests, but the centre-right does so even less.” It is time for a political change in Europe and the US.
