DeStatis: German inflation surges more than expected to 6.8%

Germany follows its strategy of fighting a demand side inflation, while experts explain it is the supply side that is the cause

The Spanish inflation rate in June slowed sharply to 1.9%, which is below the ECB’s inflation target. Gas price cap in power production, limits on rent increases, windfall profit taxation etc. early on did make a difference.

Harmonised index of consumer prices, June 2023:
+6.8% on the same month a year earlier (provisional)
+0.4% on the previous month (provisional)
