The United States was left more isolated than ever on Wednesday as the sole vote against a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate, unconditional ceasefire in Gaza, the unrestricted flow of humanitarian aid and the release of captives still in the territory.
All 14 of the other Security Council members backed the resolution.
Just like the Biden administration before it, the Trump administration stood adamantly on the side of Israel’s merciless death machine by vetoing the resolution.
And so once again there is no end in sight to the genocide whose horrors mount every day.
After 20 months of unremitting slaughter, is international law any use at all? On The Electronic Intifada Livestream, we speak to veteran human rights lawyer Craig Mokhiber. He updates us on international legal and political efforts to bring accountability for Israel’s crimes.
Craig is also a member of the Gaza Tribunal, a people’s tribunal which just held its opening public sessions in Sarajevo.
