Kenan Malik provides a razor sharp analysis of EU refugee and migrant policy. The title is however absurd – and may not be from him, but from one of the Guardian’s loftily liberal editors. To say we have all colluded in Fortress Europe is simply wrong. As the article demonstrates, the EU political elite is not in the least concerned about what its citizens desire. Right now it is pandering to right-wing populists in preparation to share power with them to maintain their grip on power.
